NGUNA VOLCANO, VANUATU: AN AUTHENTIC PACIFIC ISLAND EXPERIENCE

We just landed in Vanuatu and we are thirsty of adventure, we are ready to discover the authentic and untouched side of these Pacific Ocean islands. We had a taste of it yesterday, taking a short tour of Moso island where we are staying at the moment, hosted by magnificent The Moso Resort.Today, we will head over to another little island, even less known to foreigners, Nguna island. NGUNA ISLAND Nguna island lies a couple of km’s north of Efate, the major island where Vanuatu’s capitaly city is, Port Vila. It’s a tiny island of volcanic origin, with two extinct volcanoes. Reaching one of the craters is our goal today.By…

VILLAGE DE SANTO RESORT – REVIEW

After being to Efate and Tanna, it was time for us to land on Vanuatu’s biggest island, Espiritu Santo. Here we had a great welcome and pleasant stay at Village de Santo Resort, which gave us the chance to see the most local areas of the island and get a deeper understanding of the culture of Ni-Vanuatu people. VILLAGE DE SANTO RESORT Vanuatu’s capital city Port Vila is located on Efate island. However, the biggest island in terms of dimensions is Espiritu Santo. The main town of Luganville is of great importance for Vanuatu’s commerce and tourism. For these reasons, Santo airport is served as much as Port Vila. Daily…

TANNA WHITE GRASS OCEAN RESORT – REVIEW

We had the chance to call White Grass Ocean Resort our home in Tanna for four nights when visiting Vanuatu last February. We had an unforgettable and complete experience and enjoyed every minute of our stay at White Grass.  TANNA WHITE GRASS OCEAN RESORT Tanna is the 3rd most visited island in Vanuatu after Efate and Espiritu Santo. The main reason for it is famous Mount Yasur, Tanna’s active volcano, which is increasing in popularity among holiday makers year after year. Mt Yasur is considered one of the most accessible active volcanoes in the world, where you have the chance to witness lava eruptions with your own eyes from a…

    THE MOSO VANUATU – REVIEW

Our trip to Vanuatu couldn’t have started better. Our first destination is The Moso Resort, named after the small untouched islet situated in front of Efate Island. When we saw the location of the resort, we know we were in for a special stay, and it certainly didn’t let down. THE MOSO RESORT Vanuatu is home to some 83 islands, the majority of them are small and wild like Moso, the exact stereotype of a tropical destination. Being located in front of Efate main island, where Port Vila International Airport is, makes The Moso Resort a perfect island getaway, yet not so far in matter of time and transfers. Direct…

TROPICAL NORTH QUEENSLAND – OUR ITINERARY GUIDE

Tropical North Queensland (TNQ) refers to the vast northeastern corner of Australia, going more less from the city of Mackay all the way up to Cape York, the northernmost point of the Australian continent. For the even more remote areas in the north the term Far North Queensland (FNQ) is also used. We had the pleasure to work, live and travel for 6 months in this diverse area of Australia, so here’s what not to miss when visiting Tropical North Queensland. MUST SEE IN TROPICAL NORTH QUEENSLAND Unless you’ll be working in the area like we did, you probably won’t have more than a few weeks to visit Tropical North…

  • PHILIPPINES – OUR 3-WEEKS ITINERARY GUIDE

Seeing the over 7,000 islands forming the Philippines would require several life times, each main island has diverse landscapes and natural attractions. The Philippines extend over a very large area, making them subject to different seasons, including the rainy and typhoon one. Be wise when you plan your trip! Be prepared that your most used means of transport will be airplanes and ferry boats, and the weather can often delay your scheduled journeys. Unfortunately, we had to exclude the south due to safety reasons (The ISIS cell is reportedly being defeated slowly). ISLAND HOPPING ITINERARY IN THE PHILIPPINES We are including the most beautiful and accessible places we’ve been to,…

THAILAND – OUR ITINERARY GUIDE FOR A 15-20 DAYS TRIP

Thailand has it all, from tropical beaches in the south to charming mountains in the north, from crazy railways to ancient tribe villages and elephant sanctuaries. It is a huge country and places to see are countless, here we try to list the most important ones. Thailand was our first country in Southeast Asia we stepped in, as many first time goers we landed in Bangkok. Describing this city would need more than 1,000 adjectives, and same goes for the country as well. Let’s just stick to the popular tag to keep it simple: “The land of smiles”!   WHERE&HOW TO GO AROUND THAILAND You’ll need at least 15-20 days…

EXPLORING CORON, A PARADISE IN THE PHILIPPINES

Coron, municipality on Busuanga Island north to Palawan, is the last natural beauty we’ll be able to appreciate here in the Philippines. First of all, a due clarification about the names here: Coron is both a municipality on the southeastern side of Busuanga Island, a town (officially Coron Town Proper), and also the name of the wonderful island offering the most famous natural attractions in the area. EL NIDO-CORON FERRY Our fast ferry from El Nido to Coron was rather well comfy, although chilly air conditioning is often an issue on these boats, you better bring a hoodie with you. Also the sea was a bit rough, having our seats…

ISLAND HOPPING IN EL NIDO, NORTH PALAWAN

Here we go island hopping in El Nido, the northern most region on Palawan and probably the most known too. Hitting the town in the morning we immediately understand that tourism is becoming well established here, way more than previous places we’ve been to in the Philippines such as Cebu and Bohol. El Nido is a simple village with a road on the beach side leading to the port that has become home to plenty of businesses: restaurants, hotels&hostels, dive centres, scooter rentals and travel agencies. EL NIDO ISLAND HOPPING TOURS The drill is pretty simple here: head to any agency or hotel and book one of the 4 available…

    PAMILACAN ISLAND, BOHOL, PHILIPPINES

The small island of Pamilacan, 12 km from the main Bohol, will be our secluded stay for the next days. Measuring less than 2 km in length and width, about 1,000 inhabitants live here. When we were planning our trip to the Philippines, we promised ourselves that we would go on some island in the middle of nowhere. Transportation was the main issue, for some destination it’d take almost a full day to get to, and another day to leave from. Eventually we discovered Pamilacan, tiny, not touristy, but not too far at the same time. BOHOL Our cargo ferry from Argao (Cebu) docked at Tagbilaran port around 3pm, on…
