CENTARA AO NANG BEACH RESORT&SPA KRABI – REVIEW

We have a pretty wide knowledge of destinations in Thailand, having been in the Land of Smiles five times already, but we hadn’t had the chance to explore the southern province of Krabi yet. Finally we decided to give it a go and opted to stay at Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa, a big structure located right in front of Ao Nang Beach, overlooking the renown Andaman Sea. CENTARA AO NANG BEACH RESORT&SPA KRABI The south of Thailand is known worldwide as a holiday destination thanks to its several kilometres of golden coastline, dream islands, and marine national parks.People often refer to Krabi albeit the city itself doesn’t have…

VILLAGE DE SANTO RESORT – REVIEW

After being to Efate and Tanna, it was time for us to land on Vanuatu’s biggest island, Espiritu Santo. Here we had a great welcome and pleasant stay at Village de Santo Resort, which gave us the chance to see the most local areas of the island and get a deeper understanding of the culture of Ni-Vanuatu people. VILLAGE DE SANTO RESORT Vanuatu’s capital city Port Vila is located on Efate island. However, the biggest island in terms of dimensions is Espiritu Santo. The main town of Luganville is of great importance for Vanuatu’s commerce and tourism. For these reasons, Santo airport is served as much as Port Vila. Daily…

TANNA WHITE GRASS OCEAN RESORT – REVIEW

We had the chance to call White Grass Ocean Resort our home in Tanna for four nights when visiting Vanuatu last February. We had an unforgettable and complete experience and enjoyed every minute of our stay at White Grass.  TANNA WHITE GRASS OCEAN RESORT Tanna is the 3rd most visited island in Vanuatu after Efate and Espiritu Santo. The main reason for it is famous Mount Yasur, Tanna’s active volcano, which is increasing in popularity among holiday makers year after year. Mt Yasur is considered one of the most accessible active volcanoes in the world, where you have the chance to witness lava eruptions with your own eyes from a…

    THE MOSO VANUATU – REVIEW

Our trip to Vanuatu couldn’t have started better. Our first destination is The Moso Resort, named after the small untouched islet situated in front of Efate Island. When we saw the location of the resort, we know we were in for a special stay, and it certainly didn’t let down. THE MOSO RESORT Vanuatu is home to some 83 islands, the majority of them are small and wild like Moso, the exact stereotype of a tropical destination. Being located in front of Efate main island, where Port Vila International Airport is, makes The Moso Resort a perfect island getaway, yet not so far in matter of time and transfers. Direct…

TROPICAL NORTH QUEENSLAND – OUR ITINERARY GUIDE

Tropical North Queensland (TNQ) refers to the vast northeastern corner of Australia, going more less from the city of Mackay all the way up to Cape York, the northernmost point of the Australian continent. For the even more remote areas in the north the term Far North Queensland (FNQ) is also used. We had the pleasure to work, live and travel for 6 months in this diverse area of Australia, so here’s what not to miss when visiting Tropical North Queensland. MUST SEE IN TROPICAL NORTH QUEENSLAND Unless you’ll be working in the area like we did, you probably won’t have more than a few weeks to visit Tropical North…

ROAD TRIP TO CAPE TRIBULATION – AUSTRALIA

Cape Tribulation is a spectacular destination embedded between the Daintree Rainforest on one side and the Great Barrier Reef on the other.  There’s a handful of accommodations in the area, for those who plan to spend some days in this tropical getaway. However, despite being located in a remote area far from urban centers, it is also reachable on a day trip via a three-hour-ride from Cairns. So here’s the best sights and activities on the way to Cape Tribulation and how to make the most of your time. GREAT BARRIER REEF DRIVE The 140-km-stretch connecting Cairns to Cape Tribulation will leave you breathless the more you go North. After leaving…

SRI LANKA – OUR ITINERARY GUIDE FOR A 2-WEEKS TRIP

We spent three weeks in Sri Lanka and soon fell in love with this gorgeous country: very backpacker friendly, it’s amazing to travel by train and local bus to get to know their culture. Two major disasters have hit Sri Lanka recently: the civil war between the Tamil rebels and the government forces, especially in the north of the country, ended in 2009; and the devastating tsunami of 2004 that destroyed many villages on the eastern and southern coasts. Sri Lanka has risen again since then, making tourism its n.1 income. As of today, it is still relatively untouched in some areas, but is becoming quickly a top destination for…

ISLAND HOPPING IN EL NIDO, NORTH PALAWAN

Here we go island hopping in El Nido, the northern most region on Palawan and probably the most known too. Hitting the town in the morning we immediately understand that tourism is becoming well established here, way more than previous places we’ve been to in the Philippines such as Cebu and Bohol. El Nido is a simple village with a road on the beach side leading to the port that has become home to plenty of businesses: restaurants, hotels&hostels, dive centres, scooter rentals and travel agencies. EL NIDO ISLAND HOPPING TOURS The drill is pretty simple here: head to any agency or hotel and book one of the 4 available…

SRI LANKA COAST TO COAST: TRINCOMALEE TO NEGOMBO

After visiting the central regions of Sri Lanka, now it’s time for us to relax on the east coast beaches around Trincomalee, and later move to the west coast up to Negombo, crossing the whole country in its width. We leave Habarana in the morning and we hardly find a seat on the overcrowded bus to Trincomalee, city on the east coast of Sri Lanka. A couple of hours are enough to drive through the 88 km, accompanied by loud local music, trying not to get stuck to the plastic seats (which glue to our sweaty skins). TRINCOMALEE Trincomalee looks like any other Sri Lankan big city we’ve seen so…

SOUTHERN SRI LANKA: GALLE, MIRISSA, TISSA

Here we are in a new country to us: Sri Lanka! Our first destination is the southern province, where we will stop at coastal cities of Galle, Mirissa and slightly on the inside Tissa, for Yala National Park. We land at Colombo Bandaranaike Airport at 5am. A couple of hours to get through immigration, get our 30-day visa to Sri Lanka,  change some money, and we are ready to proceed. Staying in Colombo is not in our plans, at least not now, maybe further on before leaving the country. We find a sort of bus stand, more of a dusty courtyard, where we hop on the first of many buses…
