During our Interrail trip through Europe this Autumn, we included Austria and its capital city Vienna in our itinerary. We had the pleasure to stay at Le Meridien Vienna and were treated to a perfect experience from A to Z.
Since it’s been a while we are not teenagers anymore, a cozy place to call home is much needed when travelling, especially on a 2-month-long backpacking trip!
LE MERIDIEN VIENNA
Vienna, one of the most elegant capital cities in Europe, is located in the very centre of the continent. It is reachable from several destinations by land including Milan, Budapest, Munich, Prague and Berlin, other than by plane of course. The efficient and of high standards transport system makes it easy to get around in the city. Personally, we loved arriving by train at Wien Hauptbahnhof and founding ourselves at just two metro stops away from our Hotel Le Meridien. After a nice train ride through the Austrian Alps, we got suddenly thrown into the graceful ambience of the city. Vienna is known for its refined buildings, palaces and museums.
Le Meridien Hotel too is a unique design hotel, with its own individual style.
RECEPTION
Not even the time to walk into the place, and the excellent staff of porters and receptionists is already being extra polite and helpful.
The main lobby is large and elegant, but the ground floor extends to other areas too, like the modern breakfast hall, a stylish lounge, and a cozy restaurant. There’s also a mezzanine floor which is dedicated to temporary artwork exhibitions.
BEDROOM
We meet the concierge Hasan who escorts us to our room. As a cute welcome gift, they have prepared a customized pillow with our logo on it! Plus, we are spoiled with a delicious tray of sweet and pastries. Our executive suite on 3rd floor is precisely what we need. The spacious room features a sofa, armchairs and a desktop, ideal to keep up with our online work.
The fluffy bed is separated from the bathroom by a decorated glass-window which allows natural light to come through. Other than a big shower, the gem in the washroom is the lovely freestanding bathtub, particularly appreciated by Ambra. From our windows there’s a nice view on Opernring, a large boulevard taking its name from the Vienna Opera House.

POOLS & SPA
At floor -1 we find the exercising and relaxing zones. On one side an equipped gym, on the other the swimming pool and a bubbly whirlpool. In between there’s even space for a sauna and a hammam, resulting in a complete spa area. Long chairs surround the pools, all comforts are provided!

BREAKFAST
The breakfast area is well designated and the service impeccable. Whereas a plentiful buffet provides a full glory display for every taste’s palate, the waiters serve drinks continuously at the table and come by with special treats and sweets every now and then. All tables are set up on a large floor that is emptied when special events take place in the many themed evenings hosted by Hotel Le Meridien.
To make our stay even more memorable, we treated ourselves to a fantastic breakfast in bed! Room service is available and is the best kickstart ever to your day. A glorious cart filled up with croissants, bread and jams, cinnamon rolls and lots of pastries.

THE IDEAL STAY IN VIENNA
The polite and professional hotel staff made us feel at home every time we walked by the reception, we also loved the fact that the room is made up and checked again in the late afternoon.
Our 3 day/2 night stay in Vienna was simply perfect thanks to Hotel Le Meridien. We could easily walk around to all main attractions and had a great alternative to try the hotel spa when it rained the last morning. Definitely recommended!
