• PHILIPPINES – OUR 3-WEEKS ITINERARY GUIDE

Seeing the over 7,000 islands forming the Philippines would require several life times, each main island has diverse landscapes and natural attractions. The Philippines extend over a very large area, making them subject to different seasons, including the rainy and typhoon one. Be wise when you plan your trip! Be prepared that your most used means of transport will be airplanes and ferry boats, and the weather can often delay your scheduled journeys. Unfortunately, we had to exclude the south due to safety reasons (The ISIS cell is reportedly being defeated slowly). ISLAND HOPPING ITINERARY IN THE PHILIPPINES We are including the most beautiful and accessible places we’ve been to,…

EXPLORING CORON, A PARADISE IN THE PHILIPPINES

Coron, municipality on Busuanga Island north to Palawan, is the last natural beauty we’ll be able to appreciate here in the Philippines. First of all, a due clarification about the names here: Coron is both a municipality on the southeastern side of Busuanga Island, a town (officially Coron Town Proper), and also the name of the wonderful island offering the most famous natural attractions in the area. EL NIDO-CORON FERRY Our fast ferry from El Nido to Coron was rather well comfy, although chilly air conditioning is often an issue on these boats, you better bring a hoodie with you. Also the sea was a bit rough, having our seats…

ISLAND HOPPING IN EL NIDO, NORTH PALAWAN

Here we go island hopping in El Nido, the northern most region on Palawan and probably the most known too. Hitting the town in the morning we immediately understand that tourism is becoming well established here, way more than previous places we’ve been to in the Philippines such as Cebu and Bohol. El Nido is a simple village with a road on the beach side leading to the port that has become home to plenty of businesses: restaurants, hotels&hostels, dive centres, scooter rentals and travel agencies. EL NIDO ISLAND HOPPING TOURS The drill is pretty simple here: head to any agency or hotel and book one of the 4 available…

    PUERTO PRINCESA UNDERGROUND RIVER, PALAWAN

Our first approach to Palawan, Eastern Philippines, is at Puerto Princesa, capital city of the island, mostly known for its Underground River. We take advantage once again of Cebu Pacific cheap fares to fly from Cebu to Puerto Princesa. When we land its already dark, the kind owner of our Dalindas Homestay came to pick us up and drive with his tricycle to his house. There’s not much to do in the city, most visitors only stop here for one or two nights coming or getting to the airport and visiting the famous Underground River on a day-trip. That’s exactly what we came to do, so we immediately book our…

    PAMILACAN ISLAND, BOHOL, PHILIPPINES

The small island of Pamilacan, 12 km from the main Bohol, will be our secluded stay for the next days. Measuring less than 2 km in length and width, about 1,000 inhabitants live here. When we were planning our trip to the Philippines, we promised ourselves that we would go on some island in the middle of nowhere. Transportation was the main issue, for some destination it’d take almost a full day to get to, and another day to leave from. Eventually we discovered Pamilacan, tiny, not touristy, but not too far at the same time. BOHOL Our cargo ferry from Argao (Cebu) docked at Tagbilaran port around 3pm, on…

WHALE SHARKS AND WATERFALLS IN CEBU ISLAND, PHILIPPINES

As we left Hanoi last night, we land in Manila in the early morning. We will be in the Philippines for about three weeks. Dreaming of beaches, islands and new adventures, we decided to skip the big city of Manila and fly straight to Cebu. Our connection flight Manila-Cebu with Cebu Pacific airline gets us to the central island of the Philippines by midday. DAY 1 – ARRIVAL AT BOLJOON, CEBU This will be a long transfer day for us. From the airport we take a taxi to Cebu South Terminal, where buses leave to all the island regions. The yellow coaches of Ceres Lines are the main provider, we…
